Mack MD Series Adds 23,000-lb. Rear Axle, 325-HP Engine Option
Mack Trucks announced plans to offer a 23,000-lb. rear axle and a Cummins B6.7 engine rated at up to 325 HP on its Mack MD Series models.
Mack says the Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) of up to 23,000 lbs. on the MD Series benefits refuse packers using 11- to 20-yard rear loaders, as well as water trucks carrying 2,000 to 2,500 gallons.
Combined with the Allison 3000RDS transmission and the new 325-HP engine, the Mack MD Series also offers increased towing capacity.
“The 23,000-lb. rear axle expands applications in the vocational market, particularly benefiting refuse and construction industries,” said Tim Wrinkle, Mack’s vice president of vocational and medium duty. “The 325 horsepower engine offers better performance for carriers on longer or hilly routes.”
